My journey from Pittsburgh to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, lasted about 29 hours. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the hook-up for some sleeping pills, but I've been through worse and made the best of it. Even as far as Seoul, Korea, I was reminded of the nasty winter that I was leaving behind. When the captain of said the local temperature, at 1030pm mind you, was 29C or 84F right before landing, I ripped off the leggings of my pants (they had a zipper) and couldn't wipe the grin off my face. I luckily had the e-VISA and within about 10 min of landing was already on a tuk-tuk on my way to the hotel, after passing through by some tropical plants outside the airport gates. Right now as I type, I'm feeling pretty good. Whatever I did leading up to and during the trip, it worked to stave off the jetlag.
On a side note, I had my first "is there a doctor on board?" experience from Chicago to Seoul. There was a 57 y/o lady who passed out in the isle while returning to her seat from the bathroom. Time to spring into action! There was a 3rd year head and neck surgery resident that, with my help, took charge. I was surprised by the inaction of everyone else (think Kitty Genovese), so I asked for the oxygen tank and a glucose monitor which I used to check her sugar -> 106, okay. Through an interpreter, I got some of the history while the resident was filling out paperwork. Did I mentioned we eventually moved her to a bed in first class, and as the medical personnel, the resident and I also took seats up there? Too bad it was for only the last 3 hrs of the flight, and not 23hrs :-) She turned out okay, just a bit dizzy which apparently happens once or twice a year to her. Go figure.
Well, time to go explore! Pictures to come in due time.
heart issues maybe? like an arrythmia? Or is she on bp meds?
